The incident occurred on Friday at Aqua Triton Company, located in the Ogunmakin area, along the Ibadan axis of the state.

What Happened

According to police sources, armed men stormed the facility and opened fire. During the attack, a police officer on duty was shot and killed while attempting to resist the assailants.

The gunmen subsequently abducted a Chinese expatriate, believed to be a senior staff member of the company, before fleeing the scene.

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and described it as a targeted attack.

The command said tactical units, including the anti-kidnapping squad, have been deployed to rescue the abducted foreign national and track down the perpetrators.

Police authorities added that a search-and-rescue operation is ongoing, particularly in surrounding forests and exit routes used by the attackers.

Investigation Ongoing

The identity of the slain police officer has not yet been officially released, while the body has been deposited at a morgue pending further procedures.

The police assured residents that investigations are underway and urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist security operatives.
