Hannatu Musawa Warns APC Against Dropping Northern Muslim from 2027 Ticket

By Erewunmi Peace

Hannatu Musawa, Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) about potential political risks ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on the Mic On Show podcast, Musawa said that removing a Hausa, Fulani, or Kanuri Muslim from the APC ticket could create a significant hurdle for the party in Northern Nigeria. She emphasized that the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket, which features President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, has been a key factor in political calculations in the region.

Musawa noted that any major change to this arrangement could affect voter support in crucial northern states, urging the party to carefully consider the religious and ethnic balance when finalizing its candidates.

Her comments come amid ongoing speculation about the APC’s 2027 presidential ticket and the potential inclusion of a Christian running mate. While no official decision has been made, Musawa’s warning highlights the sensitivity of ticket composition in Nigeria’s political landscape.
