The Nigerian Army has disclosed that notorious bandit leader Bello Turji is currently on the run and constantly relocating, following intensified military operations across the North-West region.

According to the Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Warrah Idris, intelligence reports indicate that Turji has no fixed base and is under sustained pressure from coordinated ground and aerial offensives by Nigerian troops.

“We are told that Bello Turji is currently in panic mode as a result of the intensity of our operations. He is moving from place to place to evade capture,” the army commander said while briefing defence correspondents.

The military also dismissed reports suggesting that Turji controls any local government area, describing such claims as misleading propaganda aimed at exaggerating the influence of criminal groups.

Bello Turji is one of Nigeria’s most wanted bandit leaders and has been linked to kidnapping, cattle rustling, village attacks, and killings across parts of Zamfara, Sokoto, and neighbouring states.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on bandits and criminal networks until lasting peace and security are restored in affected communities.
