Lagos Govt Probes Death of Twin Boys After Routine Immunisation
By Erewunmi Peace
The Lagos State Government has commenced an investigation into the death of nine-month-old twin boys who reportedly died about 24 hours after receiving routine immunisation at a primary health care centre in the state.
The incident occurred at the Ajangbadi Primary Health Care Centre in Ojo Local Government Area. The twins, identified as Testimony and Timothy Alozie, were said to have been vaccinated on December 24 and died the following day.
The case gained public attention after the children’s father, Samuel Alozie, shared videos on social media alleging that his sons became weak and unresponsive shortly after the vaccination.
Government Response
Reacting to the incident, the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board confirmed that the state government has ordered a post-mortem examination to determine the actual cause of death.
Officials stated that routine vaccines administered at government health facilities are widely used and have undergone safety checks, but assured the public that the matter is being treated seriously.
“The state has initiated a thorough investigation, including an autopsy, to establish the cause of death. Findings will be made public once the process is concluded,” the government said.
The bodies of the deceased twins have been deposited at a government morgue pending the outcome of the post-mortem examination.
No Confirmed Link Yet
Health authorities emphasised that no medical conclusion has been reached linking the deaths directly to the immunisation, urging the public to avoid speculation until investigations are completed.
Routine immunisation remains a key public health measure used to protect children against preventable diseases.
Public Reaction
The incident has sparked discussions on social media, with calls for transparency and accountability, while health experts have advised parents to await official findings and continue following medical guidance.
The Lagos State Government said it would provide updates as investigations progress.
