By Erewunmi Peace

Legendary music icon Jeffrey Daniel, famed for his pioneering dance moves and as a founding member of the iconic group Shalamar, has urged Africans living abroad to return home and reconnect with the continent.

Daniel made the call during a visit to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) in Abuja.

Sharing his personal journey of relocating to Nigeria, he encouraged Africans in the diaspora to visit regularly or consider settling in Africa to contribute to national development and cultural revitalization.

“I urge Africans in the diaspora all over the world to return home and contribute to rebuilding Africa,” Daniel said.

He described his participation in the Badagry Door of Return Festival as an experience of joy, healing, and reconnection with ancestral roots.

Highlighting the richness of Nigerian culture, Daniel praised Nigerians in the diaspora for their excellence in arts, technology, sports, and other fields globally.

He encouraged them to bring their skills and resources back to Africa to help foster growth and development.
NIDCOM Chairman Hon.

Abike Dabiri‑Erewa welcomed Daniel’s decision to reside in Nigeria, describing it as symbolic and aligned with the commission’s mission to promote diaspora engagement, investment, and cultural exchange.
