President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the construction of two key federal roads in Ekiti State: the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado Ekiti road and the Aramoko–Ijero–Ifaki road. The approval is part of the 2026 federal budget proposals for road infrastructure across the country.
The decision was communicated to the Minister of Works, with copies sent to the Governor of Ekiti State, emphasizing the federal government’s commitment to improving road connectivity in the state.
“The approval of these roads demonstrates the administration’s dedication to enhancing transportation networks and fostering economic development in Ekiti State,”
the statement from the Office of the President read.
The two roads are expected to open up rural communities, ease transportation of goods, and improve access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.
Officials noted that while the projects have been approved for inclusion in the 2026 budget, actual implementation — including contract awards and commencement of construction — will follow the standard federal procurement and project execution processes.
Ekiti State has faced longstanding challenges with road infrastructure, with many rural roads in poor condition. The federal government has increasingly prioritized road rehabilitation and construction to stimulate economic activities, improve safety, and attract investment.
The Itawure–Aramoko–Ado and Aramoko–Ijero–Ifaki roads are among several projects slated for completion under the federal road development agenda for 2026.
