Eruku Youths Block Governor AbdulRazaq’s Convoy, Demand Immediate Action After Church Attack

By Erewunmi Peace

Youths in Eruku, Kwara State, have blocked the convoy of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, demanding urgent government action following a recent attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in the community. The incident, which has drawn national attention, reportedly left several worshippers dead and others abducted.

The protestors blocked the Ilorin–Kabba highway, using logs, planks, and tyres, while insisting that the governor address them directly. Many residents expressed frustration over what they described as prolonged neglect of the area and inadequate security measures.

Governor AbdulRazaq had visited Eruku earlier to assess the aftermath of the attack. During the visit, he condemned the banditry and assured residents that security forces would be deployed to prevent further attacks. However, the youths insisted that more immediate and concrete actions were necessary to protect the community.

The attack on the church has intensified calls for stronger security measures in vulnerable areas of Kwara State. State authorities say additional troops have been sent to the affected communities, and investigations into the perpetrators are ongoing.

The protest underscores growing tensions in parts of Nigeria affected by insecurity, highlighting the urgent need for a more proactive approach to safeguard lives and property.
