Gov Soludo Declares ADC, Labour Party ‘Dead’ in Anambra After By-Elections

By Erewunmi Peace

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has dismissed the relevance of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Labour Party (LP) in the state, describing them as “dead” following the recent by-elections.

Speaking on Sunday at a rally in Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area, Soludo boasted that his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), had once again demonstrated its dominance in Anambra politics by winning the Anambra South Senatorial District and the Onitsha North Constituency 1 House of Assembly seats.

“ADC does not exist in Anambra. The Labour Party is dead. APGA remains the dominant party in the state,” the Governor said.

Soludo noted that despite the alliance of opposition figures, including former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, the Labour Party and ADC failed to make an impact in the polls. He described APGA’s victories as a reaffirmation of the people’s trust in his administration and its developmental agenda.

The Governor further reiterated his commitment to delivering on his promises to Anambra residents, stressing that the ruling party would continue to strengthen its structures across the 21 local government areas of the state.

The recent by-elections were conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill vacant positions, and APGA candidates emerged victorious, further consolidating the party’s control in the state.
