Lagos Police Arrest Ex-Convict Caught on Camera Snatching Gold Necklace in Broad Daylight

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an ex-convict, John Samuel, for allegedly shooting and robbing a businessman of his gold necklace in broad daylight.

The incident occurred on August 18 along Gbajobi Street, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, where the suspect attacked the victim, identified as Gbenga Obama. According to police reports, Samuel shot the victim before forcefully snatching his necklace and other valuables.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, stating that CCTV footage captured the suspect in the act.

During interrogation, Samuel confessed to selling the stolen necklace for ₦4 million, far below its actual market value.

Police say investigations are ongoing and Samuel will be charged in court once the process is concluded.

The Lagos State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities in their communities.
