Nigerian senator and businessman, Ned Nwoko, has stirred reactions online after stating that men with only one wife deserve pity. The lawmaker made the comment while defending polygamy during a recent television interview.

Speaking on Channels Television’s “Politics Today”, Nwoko explained that polygamy helps to “balance society” and reduce cases of infidelity among men. According to him, men are naturally drawn to multiple partners, and restricting them to one wife often leads to social problems.

“I feel sorry for those who have one wife,” he said. “It’s like standing on one leg; it’s difficult and uncomfortable.”

The statement has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians supporting his viewpoint as part of African tradition, while others criticized it as outdated and disrespectful to women.

Nwoko, who is married to several wives including actress Regina Daniels, is known for his open advocacy of polygamy and cultural preservation.
