The Imo State Police Command says it has arrested 789 crime suspects and recovered 17 firearms during various operations across the state in the last two months.

The Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, who disclosed this in Owerri, said the suspects were arrested for offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, child trafficking, and murder to other criminal activities.

Recovered items include AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, locally fabricated pistols, large quantities of ammunition, stolen motorcycles, and electronic devices.

According to the police chief, the command remains committed to sustaining the ongoing operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents.

Imo State has witnessed a series of security challenges in recent years, including cult clashes and targeted attacks by criminal gangs. The latest crackdown is part of broader efforts by the police to restore peace and stability in the region.
