Sultan of Sokoto Allegedly Suggests Turbaning Nnamdi Kanu; Kanu Reacts

By Erewunmi Peace

Reports have emerged that the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, allegedly expressed an interest in turbaning Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), during a recent visit by Abia State Governor Alex Otti to Kanu at the Sokoto Correctional Centre.

According to the reports, the Sultan reportedly joked that Kanu was “now his subject” and mentioned the possibility of turbaning him. Sources say Kanu reacted with laughter to the statement.

It is important to note that this claim has not been independently confirmed by the Sultanate or other official channels, and should be considered as reported by third parties. There is currently no public record or statement directly from the Sultan’s Palace verifying the alleged comment.

This incident highlights the ongoing interest and attention surrounding Kanu’s detention and the political discussions it continues to generate. Observers urge caution in interpreting such statements until verified by official sources.
