A worshipper has reportedly died following an altercation at the Ummu Hanni Adigun Memorial Central Mosque in the Ogo-Oluwa area of Osogbo, Osun State.

According to reports from multiple Nigerian news outlets, the incident occurred shortly after dawn prayers.

Witnesses said the worshipper allegedly disrupted proceedings during a sermon and attempted to confront the imam. The situation escalated, leading to a physical struggle between the individual and other congregants.

During the confrontation, the worshipper was overpowered. He later died as a result of injuries sustained during the incident.

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the development and stated that an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities have reportedly taken some individuals into custody for questioning.

Police officials have urged members of the public to remain calm while investigations continue.
