By Erewunmi Peace

A terrifying incident occurred during Sunday service at a church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area, as armed gunmen stormed the premises, abducting the pastor, his wife, and several worshippers.

Eyewitnesses reported that panic ensued as the attackers struck, causing congregants to flee in fear. The affected church is a newly established congregation of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.

Local government and state officials have confirmed the abduction and described the event as “very sad and unfortunate.” Security agencies, including the police and community vigilante groups, have launched a manhunt to rescue the victims.

A state spokesperson said:
“We are working tirelessly to ensure the safe return of the pastor, his wife, and all abducted members. Our security teams are on the ground conducting thorough investigations and searches.”

This incident highlights ongoing security challenges in parts of Kogi State, where churches, schools, and villages have increasingly become targets for armed gangs. Residents and religious leaders are being urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities immediately.

At the time of reporting, the exact number of worshippers abducted remains unclear, and authorities have promised to release more details as the rescue operation progresses.
