Reports claim that BUA Group has dismissed over 700 truck drivers AR its Obu‑Okpella plant in Edo State following a protest over exclusion from a staff reward payout. The alleged protest reportedly centered around a N30 billion loyalty and long-service reward distributed to 510 employees in December 2025.

According to the reports, the truck drivers — some of whom have worked with the company for several years — protested being left out of the reward program. They were reportedly handed dismissal letters after the protest.

However, BUA Group has not issued any official statement confirming these sackings, and major Nigerian news outlets have yet to verify the story. Social media posts and some online news platforms have circulated video clips of the protest, but their authenticity has not been independently confirmed.

BUA Group has previously been reported to have rewarded long-serving staff as part of its recognition program, which aligns with the claims about the N30 billion payout.
