By Erewunmi Peace

Popular Nigerian chef and former Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci is set to make history again by cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice. The event will see her prepare an astonishing 250 bags of rice in a specially designed pot.

The culinary feat is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos, and aims to feed an estimated 10,000 people.

According to Hilda, the pot for this record-breaking attempt has a capacity of 22,619 litres and will be filled to about 80%, requiring roughly 5,278 kilograms of rice (around 250 bags). She also revealed that the preparation will involve 1,583 kilograms of tomato paste and other ingredients to maintain the authentic jollof flavor.

“This is not just about breaking records; it’s about celebrating our culture and bringing Nigerians together through food,” Hilda said.

The event promises to be a gastronomic festival, showcasing Nigeria’s rich culinary heritage and cementing jollof rice as a national treasure.
