The newly inaugurated South-West Development Commission (SWDC) has announced bold plans to harness the region’s vast economic potential through a coordinated development strategy.
At its inaugural board meeting held in Ibadan, the Commission unveiled the “One Bloc Development Agenda,” a blueprint designed to unify fragmented development efforts across the six states of the South-West.
Speaking at the event, the leadership of the Commission emphasized that the SWDC is now fully set for take-off under the framework of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to officials, the Commission’s priorities will focus on:
Expanding critical infrastructure across the region
Driving industrialization and regional trade integration
Creating sustainable employment opportunities
Building human capital through skills development and innovation
Promoting coordinated and inclusive development across all states
The SWDC explained that the One Bloc Development Agenda would ensure the South-West speaks with one voice in terms of development, avoiding duplication of efforts and maximizing available resources.
The Commission expressed confidence that with proper coordination, the South-West could emerge as a leading hub for industrial and economic growth in Nigeria.
