Lagos Government to Deploy Surveillance Drones to Boost Security
By Erewunmi Peace
The Lagos State Government has announced plans to deploy surveillance drones as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance security and intelligence gathering across the state.
Drone Initiative for Enhanced Security
According to the Lagos
State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), the drones will support aerial surveillance, rapid response operations, and better coordination among security agencies.
The initiative is aimed at tackling rising security concerns, including crime hotspots and traffic-related monitoring.
The project will involve collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force and the Nigeria Police Airwing, leveraging technology to improve the effectiveness of security operations.
Complementary Security Measures
In addition to drones, the state government has deployed additional patrol and operational vehicles to strengthen ground-level security.
The LSSTF emphasized that combining technology with increased manpower will significantly improve response times and intelligence capabilities.
Why It Matters
Security analysts say this move reflects Lagos State’s proactive approach to modernizing law enforcement and leveraging technology to protect citizens.
By integrating drones into security operations, authorities aim to reduce crime, improve surveillance, and ensure safer communities across Nigeria’s largest city.
The LSSTF and state government have assured residents that further updates on the rollout and operational areas for the drones will be provided in the coming weeks.
