Former presidential aide and public commentator, Reno Omokri, has stated that former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai deserves prosecution over alleged controversial actions during his tenure in office.

Omokri made the comments on social media, highlighting several incidents from El-Rufai’s eight-year tenure, including allegations of human rights violations, suppression of dissent, and demolition of properties belonging to critics.

“El-Rufai is now being prosecuted, not persecuted. Justice must be served, and no one should be above the law,” Omokri said.

He also pointed to reports of hundreds of Shia Muslims killed under El-Rufai’s administration and alleged misappropriation of ₦423 billion, stressing that public officials must be held accountable for their actions.

Analysts say Omokri’s remarks are likely to spark further debate, given El-Rufai’s political influence and the sensitive nature of the allegations.
