Security forces have successfully overrun a notorious bandits’ camp in Kogi State, rescuing sixteen kidnapped victims during a coordinated operation in the state.

According to reports from local authorities, the operation was carried out in forested areas believed to be strongholds for criminal groups responsible for recent kidnappings and attacks within the region. The troops engaged the suspected bandits and successfully dismantled the camp, leading to the safe rescue of the victims.

Government officials confirmed that the rescued individuals are currently receiving medical attention and necessary support following their ordeal.

The security operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Kogi State Government, in collaboration with federal security agencies, to combat banditry and restore safety across affected communities.

In support of the operation, the state government had earlier ordered the temporary closure of selected markets and motor parks in parts of Kogi West to restrict movements suspected of aiding criminal activities.
Authorities have reassured residents of their commitment to sustaining security operations until all criminal elements are flushed out of the state.

Residents have been encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid further operations.
