Olubadan Hands Over Suspected Land Grabber to DSS

By Erewunmi Peace

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has handed over a suspected land grabber to the Oyo State Directorate of the Department of State Services (DSS), following complaints of illegal land acquisition in the city.

The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is alleged to have been involved in a protracted land dispute between the Akoto and Ojofeitimi families in the Elebu area of Ibadan. According to palace sources, repeated complaints and ongoing tensions prompted the Olubadan to intervene.

Speaking through his media aide, Adeola Oloko, the Olubadan’s office said the action is part of a broader effort to ensure law and order, protect property rights, and prevent violence in Ibadanland. Legal experts and surveyors have also been involved to ascertain rightful land ownership.
“The Olubadan is committed to maintaining peace and ensuring that disputes over land are handled within the law.

Anyone found flouting rules will face appropriate action,” Oloko said.
This move highlights ongoing efforts by traditional authorities in Ibadan to curb land-related crimes, which have become a major source of conflict in the city and surrounding communities.
