JAMB Issues Important Update to 2026 UTME Candidates

By Erewunmi Peace

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued an important update to candidates preparing for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry registration.

In a statement released on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, JAMB warned candidates against attempting to alter their personal details after registration, stressing that all biodata used for registration will be sourced directly from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

The examination body emphasized that multiple registrations are not allowed and advised candidates to ensure that all information provided during registration is accurate. JAMB noted that any candidate found registering more than once or using multiple National Identification Numbers (NINs) risks disqualification.

JAMB also cautioned parents, guardians, and third parties against interfering with candidates’ registration processes, stating that only candidates are permitted to manage their profiles.

Errors or issues encountered during registration, the board said, should be reported through official JAMB channels rather than attempting a new registration.

The board further reiterated that biometric verification at Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres will be strictly monitored to prevent impersonation and other examination malpractices.

Registration for the 2026 UTME is scheduled to run from January 26 to February 28, 2026, while candidates have been urged to follow all guidelines to avoid complications.
