The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has advised religious leaders across the state to temporarily suspend night programmes, including church vigils and late-night mosque activities, following rising cases of kidnapping.

The advisory comes after suspected kidnappers abducted six worshippers during a midnight service at a Celestial Church in the Uso community, Owo Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Ondo State Police Command, the directive is a preventive measure aimed at protecting residents and worshippers, especially during late-night gatherings that may be difficult to secure.

Police authorities emphasized that the measure is not a nationwide ban but a temporary security precaution specific to Ondo State. Religious organisations planning special night events have been encouraged to coordinate with security agencies for proper safety arrangements.

Security concerns have continued to affect parts of Nigeria, with authorities urging communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
