EFCC Arraigns Mike Ozekhome Over Alleged Forgery Charges
By Erewunmi Peace
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned senior lawyer Mike Ozekhome before a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja over alleged forgery and related offences.
Ozekhome, alongside other defendants, was brought before the court on a multi-count charge reportedly bordering on forgery, conspiracy, impersonation, and obtaining by false pretence. The charges are said to be linked to a property dispute involving documentation allegedly used abroad.
During the court proceedings, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Bail Granted
The court granted bail to the defendants under specified conditions and adjourned the matter to a later date for the continuation of trial.
The EFCC, in its submission, maintained that the charges followed investigations into allegations concerning falsified documents. However, the defence team insists that the accusations are unfounded and has vowed to challenge the claims in court.
Case Ongoing
As the matter is now before the court, legal analysts say the case will proceed through trial where evidence will be examined and arguments presented by both sides.
Further updates are expected as proceedings continue.
