Ogun 2027: Don’t Be an Opportunist, Iyabo Obasanjo Tells Yayi

By Erewunmi Peace

A former governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Iyabo Obasanjo, has cautioned Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, against what she described as political opportunism ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, made the remarks amid growing political realignments in Ogun State as preparations for the 2027 gubernatorial race begin to gather momentum.

She advised politicians seeking leadership positions to demonstrate long-term commitment to the state and its people rather than pursuing ambition based on convenience or political advantage.

According to her, leadership should be rooted in genuine service, grassroots engagement, and a clear developmental vision for Ogun State.

Her comments are widely seen as a response to the increasing speculation surrounding Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition in Ogun State.

Political observers note that the exchange signals the early stirrings of what could become a highly competitive race ahead of the 2027 elections in the state.
