Curfew Imposed in Kaiama LGA Over Rising Security Concerns

By Erewunmi Peace

Authorities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have imposed a night curfew following renewed security challenges in the area.

The Chairman of the local government, Abubakar Danladi, announced the restriction as part of efforts to restore calm and protect residents after reported attacks in parts of the council area. According to local authorities, the curfew takes effect daily from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. until further notice.

The decision comes after armed assailants reportedly attacked some communities within the LGA, causing casualties and heightened tension among residents. Security agencies have since increased patrols and surveillance across affected areas to prevent further incidents.

Officials say the temporary restriction of movement during nighttime hours will assist security operatives in carrying out coordinated operations and intelligence gathering. Residents have been advised to comply fully with the directive and to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

The Kwara State Government has also engaged security chiefs to assess the situation and strengthen ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property.

Community leaders are calling for cooperation between citizens and security personnel to help stabilize the area.

While daily activities are expected to continue during permitted hours, authorities stress that public safety remains the top priority. The curfew will be reviewed as security assessments continue.

Kaiama LGA, located in the northern part of Kwara State, has in recent times experienced security pressures similar to other border communities in the region. Government officials have assured residents that necessary measures are being implemented to restore lasting peace.

Residents are encouraged to remain calm and law-abiding as security agencies intensify operations across the local government area.
