The National Police Council has officially confirmed Tunji Disu as the substantive Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of Nigeria.

The confirmation was made during a council meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Disu, who had been serving in an acting capacity, was ratified following the recommendation of the Police Council in line with constitutional provisions guiding the appointment of the IGP.

His confirmation comes after the exit of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun. With this development, Disu now assumes full authority as the head of the Nigeria Police Force.

Further details regarding his swearing-in ceremony are expected to be announced by the Presidency.
