Ekiti Amotekun Arrests Five Suspected Gunmen, Recovers Weapons

Operatives of the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps have arrested five suspected gunmen in Ekiti West Local Government Area and recovered weapons and other items linked to criminal activity. The arrests were made on February 25, 2026, following a tip-off from residents.
According to officials, the suspects were intercepted while alighting from a vehicle at a motor park along Itawure Road. The corps recovered:
- Two locally made guns
•One axe and one dagger (daga)
•Two dogs
•Five mobile phones
•Assorted charms believed linked to criminal activities
The suspects’ identities have been disclosed to the authorities, and all items and suspects have been handed over to the Ekiti West Police Command for further investigation.
“We will continue to ensure the safety of Ekiti residents by apprehending criminals and disrupting criminal networks,” said the spokesperson for the Ekiti Amotekun Corps.
The Amotekun Corps is a state security outfit tasked with tackling crime and protecting citizens in the Southwest region. This recent operation highlights ongoing efforts to curb armed robbery and other criminal activities in Ekiti State.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly. The police have also promised a thorough investigation into the suspects’ alleged criminal activities.
