Tinubu Commends Wike, Says FCT Achievements Boosted APC in Council Polls

By Erewunmi Peace

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, stating that his developmental efforts in Abuja contributed significantly to the electoral success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recent FCT area council elections.

In a statement released following the conclusion of the polls, President Tinubu congratulated the winners and praised the peaceful conduct of the elections.

He noted that the visible infrastructural and administrative improvements in the FCT under Wike’s leadership had yielded “political gains” for the ruling party.

According to the President, the outcome of the elections reflects growing public confidence in the APC’s governance and reform efforts within the capital territory.

The APC reportedly secured the majority of seats across the six FCT area councils, a development party stakeholders have described as a strong political statement ahead of future national elections.

Minister Wike, in his response, expressed appreciation for the President’s support and reaffirmed his commitment to continued infrastructural development and service delivery in the FCT.

Political analysts suggest the results may reshape the political dynamics of the capital, particularly considering Wike’s previous affiliation with the opposition before his appointment as FCT Minister.
