Fire Breaks Out at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Old Terminal, All Trapped Persons Rescued

A fire incident occurred at the old international terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Monday, causing panic among airport workers and passengers.

According to initial reports, about 10 personnel were temporarily trapped in the control tower area as firefighters battled to contain the blaze.

Emergency responders, including officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Lagos State Fire Service, swiftly moved to the scene.

Airport authorities later confirmed that all trapped individuals were safely rescued. No fatalities have been reported as of the time of filing this report, although some individuals received medical attention due to smoke inhalation.

The fire reportedly affected parts of the old terminal building, prompting temporary flight disruptions and operational adjustments.

Authorities have not yet officially disclosed the cause of the fire, but investigations are ongoing.

FAAN assured the public that safety protocols were activated immediately and that airport operations are being stabilized.
