The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has partnered with the National Population Commission to integrate birth registration data into school enrolment processes nationwide.
The initiative aims to ensure accurate age placement, credible demographic records, and improved education planning, including the effective deployment of teachers and allocation of resources to schools.

While the move strengthens the role of birth certificates in education administration, the ministry emphasized that the policy will be phased in gradually to allow families sufficient time to access birth registration services, preventing any barriers to school enrolment.

The Education Ministry noted that linking birth registration to enrolment will enhance data-driven planning, support students’ academic records, and improve national education management.

Officials have stressed that the collaboration is part of a broader strategy to ensure every child is officially registered at birth, which will have long-term benefits for both education and national demographic planning.
