By Erewunmi Peace
The newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has reportedly removed Benjamin Hundeyin from his position as the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
Hundeyin, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, had served as the police spokesperson at the national level since September 2025, when he was appointed to manage public communications for the force.
Reports indicate that the decision followed recent changes in the leadership of the police, with the new Inspector-General reportedly initiating adjustments within the command structure.
As of the time of filing this report, no official reason has been publicly given for the removal, and the police authorities have yet to announce a replacement for the role.
Before his appointment as Force PRO, Hundeyin gained public attention for his work as the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, where he was widely known for communicating police updates and security information through traditional and social media platforms.
The leadership of the Nigeria Police Force is expected to announce further details regarding the restructuring and the appointment of a new spokesperson in the coming days.
