Lawmaker Raises Alarm Over Rising Kidnappings and Killings in Ekiti Communities

By Erewunmi Peace

A member of the House of Representatives, representing Ekiti North I Federal Constituency, has raised serious concerns over a surge in kidnappings, killings, and violent attacks in several communities across Ekiti State.

The lawmaker presented a motion of urgent public importance in the House, calling on the Federal Government and security agencies to take immediate action to protect residents and restore peace in the affected areas.

According to the motion, communities in the constituency have been facing frequent attacks by criminal gangs, which have resulted in loss of lives, destruction of property, and the abandonment of farmlands by terrified residents.

The House of Representatives urged federal security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army, to intensify security operations in Ekiti North I and other affected areas to prevent further incidents.

Political analysts say the rising insecurity underscores the urgent need for a coordinated response from both state and federal authorities to protect citizens and stabilize communities in Ekiti State.

The lawmaker called for swift intervention to ensure that residents can live and farm without fear of attacks, stressing that failure to act could worsen the humanitarian situation in the region.
