EFCC Arrests 15 Suspects with Suspected Radioactive Solid Minerals in Kaduna

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 15 suspects over the alleged illegal transportation of suspected radioactive solid minerals in Kaduna State.
According to the anti-graft agency, the suspects were intercepted while transporting the minerals in three trucks. The arrest was carried out by officers from the EFCC Kaduna Zonal Directorate during an operation along the Suleja–Maji Road.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly moving the minerals to different destinations across the country before they were apprehended by security operatives.
The EFCC disclosed that the materials recovered from the suspects are believed to be radioactive solid minerals, which may pose environmental and security risks if handled or transported illegally.
Spokesperson for the commission stated that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.
Authorities added that the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
