By Erewunmi Peace

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Soladoye Fasanjo, a chieftain of the Accord Party, following allegations of criminal misconduct.

According to a statement from the police, Fasanjo was taken into custody after failing to respond to multiple invitations related to a petition accusing him of obtaining money under false pretences, criminal intimidation, and threats.

The police said the arrest was carried out as part of a proper investigation into the petition and emphasized that the case is still ongoing. Authorities also noted that arrest at this stage does not imply guilt, and due process will be observed.

The Osun Police Command urged members of the public to refrain from speculating about the matter while the investigation continues.

Political observers say the incident highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in political and financial dealings, especially among party officials.

Further updates are expected as the Osun State Police continue to investigate the allegations against Fasanjo.
