Iyabo Obasanjo Says Father Would Vote for Her if She Emerges APCGovernorship Candidate

Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, daughter of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has stated that her father would support her at the polls if she emerges as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election in Ogun State.
Speaking during a media interview, Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello said she believes both her parents would vote for her if she secures the party’s ticket to contest the governorship election.
According to her, while she respects her father’s political experience, her decision to pursue the governorship position is a personal one and not influenced by him.
She noted that she is confident in her political strength and believes she would be a formidable candidate if given the opportunity to represent the APC in the race.
The former senator emphasized that she intends to focus on governance, development, and improving the welfare of residents in Ogun State if elected.
Political observers say her comments come as discussions and political alignments gradually begin ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The APC is expected to conduct its primary election in the future to determine its candidate for the race.
