Workers Protest 11-Month Unpaid Salaries in Cross River

Workers in several local government are as in Cross River State staged a protest over unpaid salaries, claiming they have not received wages for up to eleven months.
The affected workers, reportedly employed under the state’s local government service, gathered to express frustration over the prolonged delay in salary payments. Many of them carried placards and called on the state government to urgently address their situation.
According to the protesters, the unpaid salaries have created serious financial hardship, making it difficult for them to meet basic needs such as feeding their families, paying school fees, and covering daily expenses.
The workers appealed to the state governor, Bassey Otu, to intervene and ensure that the outstanding salaries are paid.
Reports indicate that the affected workers come from several of the 18 local government areas in the state, and they say they have continued working despite the delay in payment.
As of the time of reporting, the state government has not issued an official statement addressing the protest or confirming when the workers will receive their outstanding wages.
