Senate Confirms Taiwo Oyedele as Tinubu’s Minister

By Erewunmi Peace

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Taiwo Oyedele as a minister in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Oyedele, who has been nominated as Minister of State for Finance, received approval from the Senate after a successful screening and a voice vote in plenary.

Prior to his nomination, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he played a key role in shaping fiscal and tax policies for the federal government. His confirmation follows a cabinet reshuffle that redeployed some ministers to other portfolios, including Doris Uzoka-Anite, who moved to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

President Tinubu praised Oyedele for his expertise in finance and governance, stating that his appointment will strengthen the administration’s economic policy implementation and enhance fiscal reforms.

Political analysts say the confirmation is part of the President’s broader strategy to ensure that his cabinet is composed of experienced professionals capable of advancing Nigeria’s economic agenda.

The Senate’s approval now allows Oyedele to assume office and begin work on key financial and economic policies at the federal level.
