Gunmen Attack Cocoa Research Institute in Ibadan, Oyo Police Respond

The Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria in Ibadan, Oyo State, was recently attacked by armed men, resulting in the abduction of several individuals. The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident and has launched operations to secure the area and apprehend the perpetrators.
According to police reports, about four cocoa farmers were kidnapped during the attack. Security operatives were able to rescue at least two victims and have arrested some suspects linked to the crime. Authorities are continuing investigations and search operations to ensure the safety of the remaining victims.
The police emphasized that the assailants were armed criminals and not officially classified as terrorists. Residents in and around the institute have been urged to remain calm and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
The incident underscores ongoing security challenges in parts of Oyo State, particularly targeting rural communities. The police have reassured the public that steps are being taken to prevent such attacks and protect lives and property in the region.
