Electricity Company Announces 4-Month Power Disruption in Parts of Lagos

By Erewunmi Peace

Residents in some parts of Lagos State may experience irregular electricity supply following an announcement by Ikeja Electric regarding a planned four-month power disruption.

According to the company, the outage is part of a scheduled maintenance and upgrade of a major 132kV Gas Insulated Substation. The project is aimed at improving power supply and ensuring long-term efficiency across affected areas.

The disruption will primarily affect communities in Amuwo-Odofin and nearby locations. However, Ikeja Electric clarified that the outage will not result in a complete blackout throughout the entire period. Instead, residents should expect intermittent power supply as work progresses.

The company advised customers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements and remain patient during the maintenance period. It also assured the public that the upgrade will lead to improved and more stable electricity supply once completed.

This development comes amid ongoing efforts by electricity distribution companies to enhance infrastructure and address power challenges across Nigeria.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official communication channels for further announcements regarding the schedule and progress of the project.
