Tanker Explosion Rocks Lagos, Leaves One Dead, Others Injured

By Erewunmi Peace

At least one person has been confirmed dead and two others injured following a tanker explosion in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State.

The incident, which occurred along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, was reportedly caused by a collision between a tipper truck and a gas-laden tanker, triggering a massive explosion and fire outbreak.

Eyewitnesses said the explosion caused panic in the area as flames rapidly spread to nearby shops and structures, leading to significant property damage. Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire Service and other agencies, were quickly deployed to the scene to contain the fire and rescue victims.

Authorities confirmed that the injured victims have been taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while efforts were made to prevent further escalation of the fire.

However, some reports suggest that the number of casualties may be higher, as investigations and rescue operations continue.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has advised motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such incidents, especially involving heavy-duty vehicles.

Further updates are expected as officials continue to assess the situation and determine the full extent of the damage.
