The Joint Task Force (JTF) operating under Operation UDO KA has successfully reclaimed several communities in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State from criminal elements linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The security operation, which began earlier in February 2026, involved coordinated efforts by multiple agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

According to security officials, troops carried out extensive clearance operations in the affected areas, dismantling criminal hideouts and recovering dangerous weapons, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The operation has reportedly restored a significant level of control and stability in the previously troubled communities.

Following the success of the mission, the JTF has called on residents who fled the violence to return to their homes, assuring them of improved security and continued military presence to maintain peace in the area.

Community leaders have welcomed the development and expressed hope that normalcy will fully return as security operations continue.

Authorities emphasized that the operation is part of a broader strategy to restore lasting peace and security across the South-East region.
