Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled no fewer than 171 students for presenting fake admission credentials, in a move aimed at preserving the integrity of its academic system.

The decision was reached during the university’s 433rd Senate meeting following recommendations from the Senate Committee on Entry Qualification Irregularities.

According to university authorities, the affected students were found to have submitted falsified or altered documents during the admission process, in violation of the institution’s rules and academic standards.

The university conducted a thorough review of students’ admission records, which revealed discrepancies in the credentials submitted by the affected individuals. The investigation confirmed that the documents did not meet the required authenticity standards.

Based on these findings, the Senate approved the expulsion of the students with immediate effect.

BUK management emphasized that the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward academic fraud and misconduct. The expulsion serves as a warning to prospective and current students about the consequences of submitting fake documents.

The university reiterated its commitment to upholding transparency, fairness, and excellence in its admission processes.

Students and admission seekers have been advised to ensure that all documents submitted during application processes are genuine and verifiable to avoid sanctions.

Education stakeholders have also praised the move, noting that strict enforcement of admission policies is essential to maintaining the credibility of Nigeria’s higher education system.
