Tinubu Deploys Army to Kwara Community After Deadly Terrorist Attack

By Erewunmi Peace

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the deployment of an army battalion to Kwara State following a deadly terrorist attack on communities in the Kaiama Local Government Area.

The assault, which occurred in the early hours of February 3–4, 2026, left dozens of residents dead and many others injured. Villages including Woro and Nuku were reportedly overrun by armed militants, with homes and properties set ablaze.

President Tinubu condemned the attack, describing it as a heinous act of terror. He directed the Nigerian Army to secure the affected areas, provide protection for residents, and work closely with state and federal agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.

The military operation, part of Operation Savannah Shield, aims to restore security and prevent further attacks in vulnerable border communities. Authorities are also coordinating humanitarian assistance for displaced families affected by the violence.

This deployment follows international concern over the rising frequency of attacks in North-Central Nigeria, highlighting the urgent need for coordinated security measures. Officials say investigations are ongoing, and more updates are expected as the army secures the region and recovers missing persons.
