By Erewunmi Peace

Tragedy struck in Warri, Delta State, as a 21-year-old mother of two fatally stabbed her 34-year-old lover during a domestic quarrel.

The suspect, identified as Lilian (also called Bina), reportedly attacked her partner with a kitchen knife at their residence on Ijanpa Road. Eyewitnesses revealed that the incident followed a heated altercation between the couple.

Police Confirm Arrest

Spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest, stating that the young woman admitted to stabbing her lover in the chest. He added that preliminary investigations suggest the incident occurred after an argument escalated into violence.

“The suspect confessed to stabbing her partner during a quarrel. She is currently in custody and investigations are ongoing,” Edafe said.

Domestic Dispute Gone Fatal

Reports indicate that Lilian, who had been living with the deceased since she was 17, has two children with him. She claimed she acted in self-defense after he allegedly beat her with a cane and smashed her head on the ground.

In retaliation, she reportedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest, leading to his death before medical help could arrive.

Investigation Continues

The Delta Police Command has assured the public that a thorough investigation will be carried out to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. The suspect remains in custody, and the children are reportedly in the care of relatives.
