Wike: ‘We Have Only One PDP, No Faction’

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is divided into rival factions.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Wike said the party remains united despite internal disagreements.
“We have only one PDP. Some individuals may not be happy, yes, but there is no faction,” he said, refuting suggestions that separate camps exist within the opposition party.
The minister’s comments come amid a protracted leadership dispute within the PDP, where competing claims over party leadership have emerged following conventions and court decisions. Wike emphasized that such disagreements do not constitute a formal split.
He also reaffirmed that the party’s national convention scheduled later this month will proceed as planned, highlighting the importance of party unity and reconciliation among members.
Political analysts note that Wike’s statement is an attempt to calm tensions and project a united front ahead of key party decisions in 2026.
