Gawuna Inaccessible Amidst Speculation of Planned Defection

By Erewunmi Peace

Former Kano State Deputy Governor, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, has reportedly become unreachable amid growing speculation about his possible defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sources within the party claim that several attempts to contact Gawuna in recent days have been unsuccessful, raising concerns among party leaders over his political intentions.

The development comes as reports suggest that President Bola Tinubu and other APC stakeholders are making efforts to prevent Gawuna from leaving the party, amid fears that his defection could impact the party’s influence in Kano State.

There are also indications that Gawuna may have travelled abroad after performing Umrah, which may explain his limited communication.

The situation has sparked political tension, particularly with growing rumours linking him to the Kwankwasiyya movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, there has been no official confirmation from Gawuna or the presidency regarding the alleged defection, leaving the situation open to speculation.
