APC Chieftain Iyiola Omisore Declares Bid for Osun 2026 Governorship Election

By Erewunmi Peace

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former National Secretary of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Omisore made the announcement in a statement released on Saturday, October 4, 2025, where he revealed plans to formally launch his campaign on October 7 at the APC Secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital.

The former senator, who previously represented Osun East Senatorial District, said his decision to run again stems from his commitment to “fix the broken and restore the dreams” of the people of Osun State.

According to him, the forthcoming election provides an opportunity to rebuild the state’s economy, strengthen governance, and improve public welfare. He called on party members and supporters across the state to unite behind his vision of inclusive leadership and progressive reform.

“I have listened to the yearnings of our people. The time has come to restore hope and reposition our beloved state for sustainable growth,” Omisore said.

His declaration has stirred political discussions within the APC and beyond, as analysts note that his return to the race could reshape political alignments ahead of the 2026 polls.

While the APC has yet to conduct its primary election, Omisore’s announcement marks one of the earliest formal declarations in what is expected to be a highly competitive governorship race.
