Buba Galadima: NNPP Will Decide Nigeria’s President in 2027

Chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has declared that his party will play a decisive role in determining who becomes Nigeria’s president in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Galadima asserted:
“We are the people who will determine who will be the President of Nigeria in 2027.”
Galadima emphasized that the NNPP, led by former Kano governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has grown into a major political force capable of influencing national politics.
Political Context
The statement comes amid heightened political tension in Kano State, where the federal government’s support for Emir Aminu Ado-Bayero has triggered controversy. The NNPP has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of political interference in traditional institutions.
Analysts believe Galadima’s comments signal that the NNPP is positioning itself as a kingmaker ahead of the 2027 elections, with many awaiting whether Kwankwaso will contest or align with other opposition forces.
Background
The NNPP emerged as a significant player in the 2023 elections, particularly in northern Nigeria, where Kwankwaso’s influence is strong. With the ongoing disputes in Kano and preparations for 2027 intensifying, Galadima’s bold claim suggests the party intends to wield its influence in deciding Nigeria’s future leadership.
