Fire Guts Foam Store Along Asa-Dam Road, Ilorin; Residents Flee

A major fire broke out at a foam depot along Asa-Dam Road in Ilorin on 14 January 2026, forcing nearby residents to flee in fear.
The blaze reportedly started at a Mouka Foam distribution depot beside Asa Dam Hospital and quickly spread to a warehouse and a
two-storey building.
Eyewitnesses said the fire caused thick smoke and panic, prompting people in the area to evacuate for safety.
The Kwara State Fire Service responded promptly to the emergency, containing the fire and preventing further destruction. No casualties have been reported so far, though the exact value of the property damaged is still being assessed.
Officials confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched to determine how the incident occurred and to prevent future occurrences.
Residents of the area expressed relief at the swift response of the fire service but urged authorities to implement stricter safety measures for warehouses and storage depots in densely populated areas.
